Overview
Create compressed files and open archives for storage or sharing. WinZip 12 Edition Pro zips and unzips files on Windows, opens RAR, 7Z, ISO and other common archives and protects Zip files with AES encryption. The Pro edition adds the Job Wizard for automated, scheduled backups and archiving, burning Zip files to CD or DVD and uploading them to FTP sites. An archive collects files into one package, with compression potentially reducing the space needed depending on the contents. Choose a format that the recipient can open and verify the archive before deleting or moving the originals. Files that are already heavily compressed may not become much smaller, so the packaging role can matter as much as the reduction in size. Windows and Mac WinZip releases are separate products. Match the installer to the order. Verify the archive before removing original files, and keep important material backed up independently.
