Overview

The Windows operating system and the Mac version of Office serve different platforms; the Office component is for a compatible Mac. The two parts of this bundle are intended for different computers: Windows 11 Pro runs on a Windows PC, while Office Home & Business 2021 runs on a Mac. Windows 11 Pro is the PC side of the package. Pro has BitLocker Drive Encryption and can host an incoming Remote Desktop session, capabilities that distinguish it from Home. On the Mac, Word handles letters and longer documents, Excel keeps calculations and tables editable, and PowerPoint builds presentations. Outlook adds mail and calendar work, which is why the Home & Business edition matters. The Mac edition of Office does not install on the Windows PC. Office Home & Business 2021 is the Mac application suite named here, rather than Microsoft 365. Microsoft lists Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook for this edition. Microsoft support for Office 2021 for Mac ends on 13 October 2026. The PC still needs to meet Windows 11 hardware requirements, while the Mac must meet the requirements of its particular Office release.
