Overview

Understand application traffic and infrastructure relationships when troubleshooting or planning network changes. VMware vRealize Network Insight is a network visibility and analytics platform for understanding traffic and dependencies across supported infrastructure. Flow information and topology views help administrators investigate connectivity problems, discover application communication and plan network segmentation. Connect the supported infrastructure data sources and allow the collectors to build a view of the environment. Flow information helps reveal which systems communicate, while topology and dependency views provide context for those connections. This is useful when investigating a network symptom or planning a change whose impact is difficult to see from device configuration alone. Application communication patterns can inform segmentation planning and help a team understand which dependencies should be preserved. The analysis supports a decision; it does not automatically prove that a proposed security rule or network design is correct. The quality of the result depends on collection coverage and the period represented by the observed traffic. Network Insight is an analytics and visibility product, not a replacement for the network devices, firewalls or virtualization platform being observed. On-premises and hosted offerings differ, and supported integrations depend on the edition and release.
