Overview
Cluster storage for workloads at an eligible remote or branch-office site. VMware vSAN 8 Enterprise for Remote Office Branch Office is intended for software-defined storage at eligible remote or branch-office locations. It brings compatible host storage into a shared cluster datastore and applies policies to the virtual machines serving that location. For a branch deployment, the storage configuration needs to fit the local hardware, available capacity and network design. Policies express the required behavior for the location’s virtual machines, while health checks help identify configuration or resource problems. A chosen protection policy can only work when the topology provides the necessary resources. The ROBO licensing family is intended for authorized remote physical locations and carries location and workload-capacity conditions. It is not an unrestricted central-datacenter licence. Supporting management software, guest operating systems and any additional components are licensed separately. Advanced features depend on the edition rather than on the remote-office purpose.
