Boz Digital Labs Gatey Watey VST is a frequency-selective noise gate: instead of turning the whole signal down below the threshold, it attenuates only the high or low frequency range you choose. Look-ahead preserves transients and the gate avoids chatter. A conventional gate turns down an entire signal below its threshold. Frequency-selective gating narrows the treatment to a chosen region, which can help control unwanted low-frequency rumble or high-frequency spill without applying exactly the same change to the rest of the sound. This is useful when a recording contains a desirable performance and an unwanted component that should respond differently as the level changes. Set the threshold while listening to quiet as well as loud passages so that wanted detail is not cut away. The effect depends on the recording, and gating does not reconstruct audio missing from the source. Check the legacy plug-in build against the host and operating system, particularly on newer Mac hardware.
