Overview
For independently shaping the attack and following body of a percussive sound. Boz Digital Labs Transgressor 1 VST is a transient shaper and EQ for drums: it splits a sound into its attack and its sustain, lets you change the level of each independently and equalise the two parts separately, so a kick or snare can gain punch without changing its tail, or the reverse. The initial hit and the sound that follows it contribute different qualities to a percussive recording. Treating them separately lets you explore a sharper attack, a more restrained tail or a different tonal relationship between the two. This can help a drum or other transient-rich part fit an arrangement without making exactly the same change to every moment of the sound. Transient shaping is sensitive to the source. Listen to quieter hits and sustained material as well as the loudest attack, and compare the result within the mix. This is version 1, so features of later Transgressor releases are not included. Check that the plug-in format suits the host you use.
