GiliSoft Exe Lock

Apply access controls to selected applications on a shared computer. GiliSoft Exe Lock password-protects or completely blocks chosen programs on a shared Windows PC, so games, browsers or other applications cannot be started without the password. A whitelist keeps selected programs open, a log records launch attempts, and the program files themselves are not modified. The key decision is which executable should be protected. An application may have more than one component, so identify the intended program and test the restriction on a small scope first. The product’s role is to control access to that software, not to decide which users should be authorized or to replace the wider account-management policy of the computer. Before applying a restriction broadly, make sure the person responsible for the system retains the means to unlock it. Changes should be tested against the way the application is normally launched, including shortcuts or supporting processes where relevant. This is program-access protection, not a promise that every route to the underlying data is encrypted or that an entire computer becomes secure simply by locking one executable.
