Overview
Keep selected files inside protected storage and open them when needed. GiliSoft Private Disk creates encrypted virtual disks protected with AES-256. When unlocked with the password, a private disk appears as an ordinary drive letter and works like any other drive; when locked, its contents stay in an encrypted .gpd container file that cannot be read. The workflow separates storing protected material from opening it for use. Files placed in the protected storage can be managed when the area is available, then closed away again when the work is finished. That is different from merely giving a folder an unobtrusive name: the product family is intended to provide encryption-based protection around stored data. Plan how legitimate access will be maintained before moving important files. Keep credentials and any relevant recovery information safely available, and do not make the protected copy the only copy of irreplaceable material. Encryption protects access but does not prevent hardware failure or accidental deletion. Test the workflow with sample files before using it as part of an everyday routine.
