Overview

Useful for projects that move between written documents, calculations and presentations. Microsoft Office 2021 Professional Plus contains Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access and Publisher. Office 2021 added XLOOKUP, XMATCH, LET and dynamic arrays (FILTER, SORT, UNIQUE, SEQUENCE) in Excel, co-authoring and modern comments, Line Focus in Word, the new Record Slide Show in PowerPoint, Translator and Instant Search in Outlook and the Date/Time Extended data type in Access. Use Word to develop written content and control its layout, Excel to organize data and calculate results, and PowerPoint to turn an outline into a sequence of visual slides. Files can be developed separately and then used together: a worksheet might supply the figures for a written proposal or a presentation. These are desktop authoring workflows, rather than a promise of bundled cloud storage or online collaboration services. Professional Plus also includes Access for desktop database work and Outlook for correspondence and scheduling. Access is useful when related records need tables, queries, forms and reports rather than a single worksheet. Professional Plus is not a Microsoft 365 plan. Microsoft support for Office 2021 ends on 13 October 2026, after which it no longer receives security updates.
