Ableton Live 12 Lite

A compact production environment for recording ideas, arranging songs and learning an audio-and-MIDI workflow. Ableton Live 12 Lite is the entry edition of Ableton Live 12 for recording, producing and performing music. It provides 8 audio and MIDI tracks, 16 scenes and 2 send/return tracks, Session View for improvising with clips and Arrangement View for building a song, with warping and real-time time-stretching, Capture MIDI and recording up to 32-bit/192 kHz. It includes the Drift, Simpler, Impulse, Drum Rack and Instrument Rack instruments, 16 audio effects and 10 MIDI effects. A typical project can begin with a recorded instrument, a MIDI keyboard part or a short musical phrase. Session View lets you try combinations of clips while an idea is developing. Arrangement View provides a timeline for organising those ideas into a song. Instruments generate sound from MIDI notes, while effects help shape individual tracks and the overall mix. This makes Lite a practical starting point for learning audio production, sketching songs and preparing a compact performance setup. Lite has fewer tracks, instruments and effects than Standard or Suite, and does not include Max for Live. Choose it around the scale of the music you want to make rather than assuming it contains every Ableton instrument. Check the requirements of the named Live release and any audio interface or third-party plug-ins you intend to use.
