Use it for tasks where direct control of the source matters: editing a web page, adjusting a script, searching through text or maintaining configuration files. Syntax colors help distinguish language elements, while the text-oriented interface keeps the underlying file visible rather than hiding it behind a visual page designer. Remote-file access supports a workflow in which a source file is retrieved, edited and returned to a server. That can reduce switching between an editor and a separate transfer client when maintaining a small website or a set of remote text resources. Connection details and permissions still belong to the server being accessed. The editor does not supply a hosting account, database or language runtime. Test executable changes in the appropriate environment and preserve a copy before replacing a remote file.
