Overview

Package a Java application with an installer and launcher tailored to its deployment needs. ej-technologies install4j 9 builds native installers and launchers for Java applications on Windows, macOS and Linux/Unix from one project. It can bundle a Java runtime, register services, create auto-updaters, run installers in GUI, console or unattended mode and sign the resulting executables, all configured in a visual IDE and repeatable in builds. An installer project defines more than a compressed set of files. It specifies the interaction a user sees, where application content is placed and what actions run during setup. Native launchers then provide a practical entry point for starting the Java application in its intended desktop environment. The visual configuration workflow helps developers turn deployment requirements into a repeatable build. Instead of relying on a written sequence of manual setup steps, the installer can guide the user through those choices. This is useful for shipping a maintained application to colleagues, customers or a testing team. The application itself, its runtime requirements and its distribution permissions remain separate from the installer builder. Test the generated installer on each target environment, including install and uninstall behavior, rather than assuming that building on one platform proves every output works. A version 9 licence does not necessarily include access to later releases or newer platform integrations.
