Overview
Rearrange sampled audio into new rhythms using slicing and step sequencing. HY-Plugins HY-Slicer is a sampler plug-in that loads up to eight audio samples and chops each into slices. Slices are assigned to the 16 grid lanes of each sampler track and triggered by a step sequencer with per-step playback controls, and an effect chain processes the result, turning existing loops into new rhythms. Load a loop or another sample, place slice boundaries and assign portions of the audio to sequencer steps. Rearranging those slices changes the order in which the source is heard, allowing a familiar loop to become a new rhythmic phrase without recording replacement material. Per-step playback settings provide finer control over how each fragment behaves. Changes to pitch, timing or direction can create contrast between steps, while the effect chain shapes the combined result. The workflow is particularly useful for turning a short source into several related variations for an arrangement. Unlike a MIDI-only sequencer, HY-Slicer works with the loaded audio itself. Slice placement and source quality have a direct effect on the result, so inspect boundaries when transients or unwanted clicks appear. Keep the original sample and verify the installed Slicer generation before relying on features described for the newer Slicer 2 product.
